Saturday 27 September 2013, saw the inaugural outing of The Chocolate Lovers’ Club! Twelve lovely readers and I took a Chocolate Ecstasy Tour around the chocolate hot spots of Mayfair. We started the day at the weird and wonderful Sketch restaurant with luscious hot chocolate – where everyone was, of course, given a signed copy of The Chocolate Lovers’ Club – before setting off on our odyssey.
Then we tasted the spicy chocolate and exotic teas of the East India Trading Company, swooned over the salted caramels of the fabulous Paul A Young, tried the chocolate enrobed figs at Carpo, drooled over the champagne truffles at Prestat and ended the day at the chocolate makers to The Queen, Charbonnel and Walker. We walked miles and ate lots of lovely chocolate while being entertained by Jen of Chocolate Ecstasy Tours with snippets about chocolate and the history of this interesting area of London.
Thanks to everyone who came along and made it a fun day out. There’ll definitely be another one next year as 150 people applied for just 12 spaces and it’s a great way to spend a day. There are some lovely photos on Facebook, if you want to have a little look. The Chocolate Lovers’ Club Inaugural Outing
