So. I promised the recipe for my version of the Ritz 100 Champagne Cocktail which we called the Christmas Cocktail at Matthews’ Towers. Or, affectionately, the Christmas Pistmas.
It was invented to mark the centenary celebration of The Ritz Hotel in London by the bartenders in The Rivoli Bar and is said to reflect the timeless elegance of the hotel. This one was concocted by Lovely Kev in The Matthews’ Kitchen and is a slightly less decadent affair but no less potent!
2.5 cl of Vodka
1 cl Grand Marnier
Dash of Archers
Top up with something fizzy – cava, prosecco or champagne.
Optional extra! Sprinkle with edible gold leaf – this has no flavour or calories but it makes it look soooooo pretty.
To serve, drop one cube of brown sugar into the glass which releases the bubbles in the fizz.
If you’re feeling really fancy garnish the glass with a twist of orange.
Happy new year to everyone! Hope that 2013 brings you all that your heart desires. Love Carole : ) xx
